Blanchester, Ohio was established in March of 1832. It was named after two of its first settlers whose last names were Joseph and John Blancett and built on land formerly owned by General Lytle, thus it became the only town in the world with the name of Blanchester.
Until recently, Blanchester was a sleepy little village of less than 5000 inhabitants. In the early 1980's the citizenry adopted the slogan, "A small town with a big heart," which has prevailed since. Recently the US Department of Commerce projected that Blanchester could anticipate explosive growth. Good, bad or indifferent, the growth is arriving in bundles. Come visit, we don't have everything in place yet, but we're working on it, so you can make Blanchester your destination.
