The BDDC Mission

The Downtown Restoration and Revitalization Committee of the Blanchester Area Chamber of Commerce, has been reorganized as a separate entity, namely The Blanchester Downtown Development Committee. Officers elected to serve the committee are Chamber President Elmer Williams as president,Toni Barnes as Vice President, Diana Miller as Secretary ,Ron Kohus, Jr. as Treasurer. The organization shall utilize the services of the Clinton County Foundation in order to provide maximum tax benefits for organizations and individuals who may wish to make significant donations to the committee. The thrust of the organization has always been and will continue to be the restoration of the aesthetic and economic values of Downtown Blanchester, through the combined efforts of property owners, business owners, organizations, village government and concerned individuals.
The intent of the committee is to build a broad base of concerned citizens who agree that something must be done to revitalize downtown Blanchester and who will work in a concerted effort, to attain that end.
With that thought in mind, membership in the organization is open to downtown property owners, business managers, corporations, organizations and individuals who are recommended by the executive committee, based upon the applicants professed allegiance to the by-laws and policy and mission statement as defined below:
The Mission of this committee shall be; as it’s first priority, the stabilization and hence the revitalization and restoration of the Downtown Blanchester Business Area, roughly defined as the area between Center Street and the Railroad and between Church Street and Cherry Street, more specifically defined by the Blanchester Planning and Zoning Committee of Village Council.
Its mission shall be to reestablish the economic vitality and viability of the foregoing described area by whatever means necessary, but most specifically by upgrading the appearance of the area through the cooperative efforts of the property owners, the local businesses, the Village Government, interested citizens, and organizations whose members wish to become involved professionally, physically, financially, inspirationally and/or with in-kind donations or services.
A priority of the committee shall be to invite the many downtown businesses and building owners to participate in this endeavor as we continue to further develop an overall conceptual plan for the designated area, realizing that it will probably be necessary to move forward in a series, or phases of development, as funds become available.
Further, in its effort to render the Downtown Area more attractive and inviting to business and consumers, the committee may, from time to time extend its efforts to include projects in other areas of the Village, providing that, in so doing, the revitalization of the prioritized area is not jeopardized or abandoned in the effort.
